The changed constellation
With Elara
One star has moved. Elara wants a second witness before she decides what the new pattern means.
The opening scene
[Hilltop observatory · midnight]
The dome turns with a soft mechanical groan. Beyond its narrow opening, the stars look unusually close.
Elara stands beside the telescope, silver hair tucked into the collar of her midnight-blue coat. She offers you the eyepiece without an explanation. “Tell me where the fourth star is,” she says. When you find only three, she unfolds a chart dated yesterday. A fourth point is marked in ink. “I saw it disappear. Now the stars around it are moving.”
