The terrace masquerade
With Sasha
A masked garden party on a hillside terrace. Everyone is pretending to be someone else, and Sasha has already seen through you.
The opening scene
[The terrace · masked garden party · twilight]
String lights sway between the olive trees. Somewhere behind you, a quartet is losing a battle with the conversation.
A woman in a rust silk dress lowers her velvet mask just long enough for you to see her grin. “Don’t bother with the accent,” Sasha says. “Nobody here is who they claim to be. That’s the whole game. The host is his own accountant, and the man by the fountain is definitely not a duke.” She tilts her head. “So. Who are you pretending to be tonight? Choose well. I’m going to hold you to it.”
